Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA)

In accordance with the specifications of the Federal Motor Transport Authority with regard to components that are relevant for approval (e.g. components with ABE), corresponding obligations arise from VO 765/2008 for us as the manufacturer as well as for the sales partners.

Market surveillance:

 Market surveillance aims to ensure that public interests such as health and safety are protected and that consumer and environmental interests are taken into account. It's about the safety and environmental compatibility of vehicles, about fair competition and the same conditions for all market participants.

Three pillars form the basis of the effective market surveillance of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA): product tests, recalls and the possibility of sanctions.

The KBA is the responsible market surveillance authority for the following products:

- Motor vehicles and motor vehicle trailers, as well as systems, components and separate technical units for these vehicles;

- agricultural and forestry vehicles;

- motor vehicles with two or three wheels and quadricycles.

Market surveillance runs in dynamic, interlinked processes which, on the one hand, are based on the authorities' own investigations and investigation projects, but which, on the other hand, are also carried out in response to current events and information that the KBA is brought to the attention of, for example, citizens, economic actors involved or other authorities. The KBA examines every suspicion of non-compliance. If the products do not meet the requirements, measures can be taken. This includes measures such as recalls and the ordering of public warnings if there are safety-related deficiencies. The KBA can also impose sanctions for administrative offences.

A central point of this market surveillance is the possibility of recalls if safety-related defects have arisen or are discovered. The entire supply chain, starting with the raw material, via the manufacturer and the sales partner, must be traceable to the end customer. This means that the sales partner is also obliged to document the route to the end customer so that they can be contacted in the event of a call back.
